Absolute Racing’s Ye Yifei gave a masterclass in the Asian F3 Winter Series as he took pole by over 3 tenths of a second determining the grid for race 3.
Chinese driver Ye Yifei was not the only one who surprised. Newcomers for the final round at Sepang Jack Doohan (2nd) and Victor Martins (4th) showed their class.
Championship favourite Dragon Hitech GP driver Rinus Veekay jumped from fourth to third in a last gasp effort, but finished a staggering six tenths behind pole-sitter Ye. Veekay has a 29 point lead over the 18-year old Chinese driver who races under the French flag.
Other newcomers Joey Alders (BlackArts Racing), Christian Lundgaard (Pinnacle Motorsport) and Miki Koyama (B-Max Racing Team) finished in 9th, 10th and 12th respectively.
