In 2017 Sasahara made the step to Asia and that proved to be vital for his career. That year he finished second in the F4 Japanese Championship, outscoring Yuki Tsunoda for instance. The year after he made the step up to Japanese F3 and took third in the final standings. 2019 would prove to be his most successful year in car racing.
