Sausage kerbs and rookie wins: Jack Aitken & Tom Gaymor talk F2, F3 and W Series at Silverstone

Formula 2, Formula 3 and W Series all at the same weekend on an on-and-off wet and dry Silverstone; the fans we’re treated to a spectacle. To guide you through what happened, we invited Williams Racing reserve driver and former F2 driver Jack Aitken and the man who commentated on F1, F2, F3 all on the same weekend, Tom Gaymor, to the F1 Feeder Series Podcast.

By Floris Visman

If anyone knows what it is to drive junior single-seater series, it’s Jack Aitken. The current ELMS driver competed in his final season of Formula 2 just last year with HWA Racelab. The year before he made his Formula 1 debut with Williams, subbing in for George Russell, who, in turn, subbed in for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes at Sakhir.

Our other guest is motorsport broadcaster Tom Gaymor and if anyone knows what happened at Silverstone, it’s the man who commentated on F1, F2, F3 at Silverstone and not to mention a thrilling IndyCar race for desert.

In the podcast, where the two were joined by host Jim Kimberley and F1 Feeder Series‘ FIA F3 editor Michael McClure, they discuss the problems with sausage kerbs, how not drawing a line on track limits is impacting safety, glory for Aitken’s Williams family, racing in the British summer, and Aitken’s plans to win in W Series.
