Sebastian Montoya has joined the Red Bull Athletes roster. The son of former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya is currently racing in Formula Regional by Alpine for Prema.

Sebastian Montoya joining Red Bull athletes doesn’t mean he is now a part of the Red Bull Junior Team. Athletes that are part of Red Bull do however often receive sponsorship. Montoya posted photo’s of himself on his Instagram on Tuesday and Wednesday where he’s sporting Red Bull gear.

The 17-year-old was previously part of the Ferrari Driver Academy though. In 2018 he received support from Ferrari when he was till in karting, but that only lasted for a year.

Montoya started 2022 in great fashion driving for Mumbai Falcons in winter championship Formula Regional Asia where he participated in the first three rounds, scoring two wins. In his rookie season in FRECA he currently sits in 10th, scoring a highest finish of 4th.

He’ll compete in FRECA round 7 at Spa this weekend.
